Chapter Thirteen

Ceci and I were sitting on the couch. Waiting. It was almost two in the morning and Dryden, Luken, and Stuart still hadn't returned.
"Should we call the police?" I asked out loud.
"No. They'll be back, don't worry." Olie said.
"How can I not worry? I'm freaking out!" I shouted. Ted walked out of the kitchen and handed both me and Ceci a mug of coffee.
"They know what they are doing." Ted said, and sat down on the floor in front of me. Olie got up from the chair and walked to the kitchen to get himself some coffee.
"What do you think is going on?" I asked to no one in particular.
"I think I have an idea." Ted said.
"What?" Ceci asked, before I could.
"Just take a look at the facts we have." He said. He was getting into his analytical mode. I could easily picture him as a scientist or dectective. "We'll start with Luken and Stuart. We know they left adbrubtly a few years ago and went straight for California. You said Luken told you that something happened and he got out before he got into trouble. That he couldn't stand the people he was associating with anymore. Right?" He asked, looking at me. I just nodded. "And we know something must have happened in California to bring them back here. Now as far as Dryden goes, we assume he left because your mom died." I got chills when he said that part. I touched a necklace of hers that was around my neck and wished she was still here. "Maybe that was only part of it. We know that Dryden must have run into Luken and Stuart in California because they all aperantly know each other. So something big happened here, and then in California. Now we just need to figure out what." He finished.
"Something with The Guns. Something with this Mr. Sharpe guy." I said.
"Yeah, but what?" Olie asked. I hadn't even noticed he had returned to his chair with his coffee.
"I don't know." I sighed.
"Maybe you should give Taylor a call." Ted said, looking at me.
"NO!" Ceci shouted.
"He'll know at least some of what is going on!" I shouted. Just then my phone rang. I didn't recognise the number, but answered it anyway.
"Hello?"
"Austin. This is Tracy." Tracy whsipered.
"What's going on!" I demanded.
"Look, your friends are in trouble. So are Taylor and I if Sharpe knows you've been hanging around us. Look, He's here, so I can't talk. Just go to the Library. The one in your neighborhood. If you go to the Referance section there is a door behind the Medical section. It leads to a basement. You need to go and you need to tell Luken to get the hell out of dodge. Do you understand?" He said.
"Yes. No! What is going on?"
"Just do it!" He said. I had never heard Tracy sound so demanding. For once he had no trace of nervousness or anxiety in his voice.
"Okay. What about you and Taylor?" I asked.
"We're fine. Just go." He said, and hung up.
I jumped up, ran in my room and grabbed my hockey stick out of the closet, then ran back out.
"What are you doing?" Ceci asked. I told them Tracy just said.
"Fuck! Put that down. We're going with you." Olie said, standing up.
"No! I don't know what's going on. I don't want you guys to get hurt.
"We'll be fine." Olie said, and I looked down at his arm that was still in the cast. He saw me look at it.
"This is nothing. Now let's go." He said. I dropped the hockey stick on the floor, grabbed my bag and the four of us left for the Library.
It only took us a few minutes to get there. The library was dark, and empty looking.
"How do we get in?" I asked.
"I don't know. It's probably locked, but let's try the front door anyway." Olie said. We walked to the front, and to no ones surprise, it was locked.
"Maybe there is a door on the side or in the back." Ted said, and started walking around the building. I ran after him.
"There!" I said, pointing to an unmarked door in the back. Ted tried it, and it opened. Olie and Ceci came around the corner just as Ted and I were walking in. It was pitch black inside. The building didn't even have any security lights.
"Now what?" I whispered. Ted pulled out his keys from his pocked and turned on a tine LCD light.
"Nice." Olie said, and we all turned and went SHHHHHHHHHH! at the same time.
"Sorry." He whispered.
"There is the referance section." I said, pointing to it. Ted was in the lead, and paused in front of the door.
"Just go in!" I said impatiently.
"I don't want to startle them. They don't know we are here, remember?" He said.
"So. Just go in!" I said.
"We don't know what they are doing. What if they think we are dangerous." He said.
"Oh. Then what do we do?" I asked.
"Stop whispering and slowly walk in." A voice said from inside the room. "Hands out and in front of you." the voice continued.
"Shit." Olie and I said at the same time. The light in the Referance room flickered on, and Ted walked in first. Then me, followed by Ceci and Olie.
"Who the fuck are you?" The owner of the voice said.
"I have something important to tell Luken. Is he here?" I asked.
"Maybe. Who are you?" The guy asked again.
"His friend. I'm Dryden's sister." I said.
"Hold on a second." He said. He walked over to a door and knocked on it.
"Yeah?" Someone answered.
"Send everyone up." He replied back.
"What?" The person behind the door asked.
"SEND EVERYONE UP!" The guy on ourside demanded. There was silence, then a moment later the door opened.
